Rusthall Lodge In The News

There’s a star-studded ensemble of residents at Rusthall Lodge Care Home, and over the last year our own in-house celebrities have featured in the local papers on numerous occasions (only for good reasons of course!). We’ve pulled together some of our appearances in the media in case you missed the papers.

Rusthall Lodge Care Home’s 50th anniversary

We’re sure you’ll remember our 50th anniversary celebrations over the course of 2018. One of the highlights was a party hosted in our brand-new garden which was formally opened by Tunbridge Wells MP, Greg Clark, who stayed to enjoy our fabulous cream tea afterwards.

The garden was brimming with residents, their families, staff and visitors from the village. The atmosphere was pure enjoyment and the event was a fitting celebration of our fiftieth birthday.

A double-page spread for our photographic exhibition

In October 2018, we were welcomed to the Assembly Hall Theatre, not just as guests, but to showcase our exhibition, 'On the Shoulders of Giants'.  Capturing our residents’ portraits in the style of the Golden Age of Hollywood, the photographs were prominently sited at the top of the main foyer staircase for all to see. The stunning black and white photographs were taken by local photographer, David Bartholomew, whose mother is a resident at Rusthall Lodge Care Home.

We wanted to capture the life and character in each of the sitters. The biggest benefit for families is that now, there is a stunning portrait available of their loved one; portraits that don't normally happen in the care home environment.

A night out with The Bootleg Beatles

The exhibition, 'On the Shoulder of Giants', took place on the night The Bootleg Beatles were in town performing at Tunbridge Wells’ iconic Assembly Hall Theatre. As a celebratory treat, we were able to send some of our staff to the event; a special trip that culminated in them meeting the Fab Four before curtain-up.

Everyone agreed it was a superb concert from this world-famous group.

A trip to the panto...oh, yes it is!

To see in the start of the New Year, some of our residents were treated to a trip to the pantomime to see Sleeping Beauty at The Assembly Hall Theatre starring the wonderful Claire Sweeney.

The lucky residents were then able to meet the cast and pose for a lovely photo, which featured in the Times of Tunbridge Wells.

At Rusthall Lodge Care Home, we are all about Living Your Life and we try and do that in so many different ways. Our residents are at the centre of everything we do and every decision we make.

We’re delighted that our local newspapers and magazines in Rusthall, Langton Green and Tunbridge Wells have recognised our efforts to help our residents live their lives – and we’re always happy for everyone to know that the residents of Rusthall Lodge Care Home are having a blast!
